And Country #9 is

Hi Friends!

As we speak, I am writing this newsletter from our 9th Country – GUATEMALA! Since arriving last night we have been overwhelmed by the volcanoes hovering in the distance, the warmth radiating from the people, and the colorful clothing and buildings. If I had to encapsulate my first impression into a single word, it would be vibrant.

PLANS:

For the beginning of our trip, we will be living in the colonial city of Antigua doing our first ever “work-cation”. Because we are often traveling, filming, or editing videos, we have been pushing off the behind-the-scenes-but-important-projects that could really help us out long term.

After that is done and the work accomplished, here are our baseline goals while in Guatemala:

  • Hike a volcano.
  • Try as much Guatemalan food as possible
  • Go to Lake Atitlán (supposedly beautiful)
  • Take a bus to Paredón (the best surf beach in the country)
  • Visit the turquoise water at Semuc Champey
  • Make it to the Tikal Ruins
  • Explore Guatemala City

Because the sites here are so spread out, it’ll be a stretch to accomplish them all. Guatemala is not massive when compared to other countries but some journeys between sites will last between 7-9 hours.

TRAVEL TIP – EAT BEANS AND NUTS

On trips, purchasing meals at restaurants all the time can easily become pricey. As much as we love to eat out, on many days of traveling we will just buy peanuts and a few cans of black beans to snack on in our airbnb or hotel room. They’re full of energy, available in supermarkets in basically every country, and will not break your budget.
