Penguins, Chile, and Fun News! 🎉

Greetings from Punta Arenas, Chile!

Chile is our 27th country, our 5th in South America, and the first (besides Canada, which we were only in for a day) that begins with the letter “C,” out of which there are 17.

Before anything, we have an exciting announcement!

NEW YOUTUBE UPLOAD SCHEDULE! 🥳

  • SATURDAYS – ALWAYS.
  • WEDNESDAYS – SOMETIMES (It’ll depend on that week)
  • Videos will always be uploaded at 12PM EST, or 9AM PST.

That’s right, folks. Rain or shine, you can find a brand new, polished Wyatt and Reyka travel video on Youtube on Saturdays and (sometimes) Wednesdays for the foreseeable future. Wednesday’s we’re going to try for each week, but as some weeks are busier than others, this is the one that is more flexible.

Why? We think it’ll push us to produce more videos. And two – for the past year or so we’ve posted randomly and all the experts say consistency is key on Youtube as it provides viewers reliable days to expect new videos.

This is us trying that.

Which is luck.

Penguins!

Two Magellanic Penguins near Ushuaia, Argentina

We went on a penguin tour last week and it was the best thing we have done in all of South America. We saw three different species of penguin, the Magellanic, Gentoo, and King. They are adorable, dorky, cute, and amazing little creatures and it was truly a dream come true to see them up close. There’s tons more to say, but we’re going to post a full Youtube video on the experience eventually, so I’ll just save it so you can see how amazing they are for yourself.

The Past Week

In the middle of any long, multi-month trip such as this to South America, we always try to give ourselves a break to relax.

Travel, as amazing as it is, is also nonstop problem solving.

So, for five days straight, we’ve laid on the couch, watched shows, went on walks, called friends, pet random cute cats on the sidewalk, cooked big piles of vegetables drizzled with pesto sauce, done laundry, played chess, and when we really feel like it, caught up on work.

And it’s been wonderful.

Rest is important.

Next Week Plan Forecast

Tomorrow we fly to Santiago for a few days to visit the Chilean capital. We’ve heard really good things, so that should be fun.

Then, on Thursday we head to the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile which is often dubbed the world’s best place for stargazing due to its thin atmosphere and consistent temperatures.

As two fans of cosmic gazing, Reyka and I are pumped. Also, I truly cannot wait to get out of the cold Fall weather in Patagonia.

After that, off to country number 28! We’re not 100% sure where we’re going yet after Chile yet. More on that next week after we’ve planned some more travel out.

“Greece has had the best food out of any food tour we’ve ever done.” – Reyka at the end of our most recent video after trying Gyros, Lukumades, Moussake, Souvlaki, Tzatziki, and more in Athens.

Also, the answer to the trivia question, with 26 different countries beginning with this letter, is “S.” Insane, right? The next highest is “M” with 18!

Anyways, now Reyka and I are going to watch some American Idol.

See you next week!

Love,

Wyatt (and Reyka)
